Gunnison Beach

WHAT IS VERIFIED

The official-source version

The National Park Service currently describes Gunnison as a clothing-optional beach. Its rules also explain that South Gunnison is a traditional clothing-optional use area; nudity outside that signed area may be treated differently.

Before you go

• Gunnison is not lifeguarded; NPS advises swimming only at lifeguarded beaches while lifeguards are on duty.
• Peak-season restrooms and showers are available at the Gunnison beach center.
• Alcohol is not allowed at Sandy Hook.
• Stay inside the signed traditional-use area if you plan to be nude.

Rebel field note

This is exactly the kind of place Rebel Naturists should document carefully: famous, public, easy to misunderstand, and governed by more nuanced language than a simple “legal/illegal” label.
