WHAT IS VERIFIED

The source-first version

The National Park Service describes Playalinda as part of Canaveral National Seashore and provides beach access, parking, restrooms and accessibility information. In the current NPS materials we reviewed, the agency does not designate Playalinda as a clothing-optional beach. Naturist use at the far north end is a longstanding informal tradition rather than an official NPS zone.

Access is unusually changeable here because storm damage and NASA launch operations can temporarily close roads, lots or beach areas. NPS was still planning storm-resilience work in the Playalinda District in September 2026.

Before you go

  • Treat the clothing-optional status as informal, not officially designated by NPS.
  • Check NPS Alerts & Conditions before driving out; launch security and storm repairs can alter access.
  • Canaveral National Seashore charges an entrance fee; current NPS pricing lists $25 per private vehicle for a 7-day pass.
  • Bring water, food, sunscreen and other essentials; NPS specifically tells visitors to arrive prepared.

Rebel field note

This is a good example of why Scout reports matter. The official land manager can tell us whether the road, lots and beach are open; recent visitors can tell us whether the traditional clothing-optional use is still happening in the same place.
