Start with the venue rule
Some naturist resorts restrict photography or phone use in recreation areas. Public beaches may have their own rules or management guidance. Follow the specific location first.
Consent before recognition
If another person can be identified in the image, ask before you take it. Do not rely on the argument that they happened to be in a public place. Clothing-optional spaces work because visitors can reasonably expect unusual sensitivity around privacy.
Selfies need backgrounds too
A selfie pointed toward yourself can still include a dozen strangers behind you. Turn toward an empty background, move away from crowded areas, crop tightly, or wait until people are clear.
Do not use long lenses to make people nervous
Even legitimate landscape photography can look intrusive when a camera is repeatedly aimed through a crowd. If photography is important to your trip, choose a place and time where you can clearly exclude other visitors.
Document the place, not the people
For Rebel Naturists, the most useful submissions are rules signs, entrances, trail conditions, parking, maps, facilities, shoreline changes, vegetation, scenery, and other non-identifying evidence. Our Scout photo form is built around that idea.
Never treat nudity as implied permission
A person's choice to be nude is not consent to be photographed, posted, tagged, or used in somebody else's social media content.
If you accidentally capture someone
Do not publish the image if the person is identifiable and did not consent. Delete it, crop them out, or use another frame.
Quick questions
Can I take a selfie at a nude beach?
Usually, if venue rules allow phones or cameras and you keep non-consenting people out of the frame.
Can I photograph a rules sign?
Generally that is exactly the kind of documentary photo that is useful, provided you follow local restrictions and avoid identifiable people.
Can I post a photo if strangers are in the background?
If they are identifiable and did not consent, the respectful choice is to crop, blur, or use another image.
